| ABOUT GREEN
EPICURE |
|
Green Epicure is a community of people
interested in wine & food, in the environment, and in combining
these into a holistic process of "conscious living." Our
programs and events are intended for visitors who want to avoid the
usual Wine Country circuit, where they are rubbing elbows with hundreds
of others in the tasting rooms of oversized faux chateaux. It is
for those who want to develop real connections to the owners, wine-makers,
and food producers. It is for those who want to learn valuable lessons
in conscious living that can be brought back home.
Green Epicure
takes visitors to Wine Country's hidden destinations, far from the
tourist buses and stretch limos. In addition to meeting directly
with owners, wine makers, and food producers, you will be joined
by our own team of Green Epicureans: local experts in biodynamic
winemaking, permacultural farming, heirloom species, and sensory
experiences at the gustatory frontier. |
|
Green Epicure was started by Michael
Gerlach, a scholar and entrepreneur, who became interested many years
ago in the emerging wine and food awareness movement in his home
area of Northern California. In recent years, Michael has been developing
several ecotourism and sustainable-education businesses (see the
Partner Sites located on the left-hand column of this page). He is
also Professor in the Graduate School at the University of California-
Berkeley, where he has been the recipient of numerous academic awards
and distinctions.
Michael is joined in Green Epicure by an extended
network of experts and specialists in all aspects of sustainable
agriculture, from the nitty-gritty details on the differences between
organic and biodynamic to the practical realities of creating agricultural
tourism businesses, workshops, and events. Our team is available
to customize programs to whatever your own unique needs and circumstances
might be. |
